One Dry Valley Soil sample

Expedition: Dry Valleys Ecosystem Study 2022 Teacher: Bill Henske This is a video of one soil sample from the Antarctic Dry Valleys. We use 100g samples (3.5 oz) of soil and wash the animals through a sieve into a counting dish. In this video you will see some of the grid lines of the counting dish. As we go through the sample, we count the number of each taxa (type of animal). For nematodes, w...

Expedition: Dry Valleys Ecosystem Study 2022 Teacher: Bill Henske A student project in a nearby school sought to interview beekeepers on all continents. They were having trouble finding someone from Antarctica. I'm a beekeeper and I was on a continent so I volunteered. Find out why it would be really weird to find someone beekeeping here.

Expedition: Dry Valleys Ecosystem Study 2022 Teacher: Bill Henske They call us the Worm Herders because we go out to the remote valleys to obtain soil samples that may contain nematodes and other fauna that hold clues to understanding the Antarctic food web. In this video, the Worm Herders show you how to get these microscopic critters out of the soil and, eventually, onto a microscope and into...
Weird Ice Wall

Expedition: Dry Valleys Ecosystem Study 2022 Teacher: Bill Henske I think it's weird that as glaciers melt they don't get smooth and rounded like an ice cube. Look at this glacier with me that is feeding Lake Bonney with its meltwater.

It's nice to see Trevor Noah finally getting recognition because of this bird.
The bird sounds like he's about to ask if you want to be a big shot

It sounds like dropping a plastic marble and hearing it bounce a couple times 😂

For me it's like another world. Thank u so much for showing us this magical place.
It would have been nice if Trump was able to buy Greenland. Still we could do a lot of trade with them. Too bad that pretty much all the livable land is just on the edges. If Antarctica could be explored why can't Greenland be explored in the center.
That sounds so great.
Bek bek bek 🦆
At 2:04, the "hokay, so! Here's..." I got that reference (ua-cam.com/video/Pk-kbjw0Y8U/v-deo.html) This is an excellent video which deserves a lot more views.
beautiful footage, good musical taste also. rob dougan
I know this video is old, but I'm curious to know if this is actually a confirmed Desmonoma because online there's not enough information on Antarctic jellies. The images online of this jellyfish show a jelly that his thicker tentacles. Is it an age thing? Or is their some confusion in the community. I know I'm confused. But even the the clip is old, it's very beautiful.
These seals are so cute 😭 One day I will go to Antarctica
High guys. Did the angle changed? Should have.

Why does Greenland have mosquitoes but Iceland dosent? 🤔 I don't understand. I searched on Google to find that Greenland has 2 species of mosquitoes in it but Iceland has 0 species.
